DESCRIPTION:Covid-19 Notice: The CREF and NC Composting Council are monitoring safety protocols at the federal\, state and local level and are planning to conduct the course in adherence to all safety precautions. At this time\, the course will require attendees to wear a mask at all times\, but registration will not be limited. Registered students will be notified if protocols affect the course date and/or location. \nCheck out our Raleigh\, NC 2021 COTC FLYER. \nAbout the Compost Operations Training Course:\nThis 40-hr\, 5-day course focuses on giving you the knowledge you need to run a successful composting facility\, whether you’re just getting started or have been composting for a while. In addition to in-depth lectures\, the course provides hands-on practice through indoor and outdoor activities as well as tours to local facilities\, where the theories meet reality. \nFrom compost operators to environmental and agricultural consultants to local and state regulators; the Compost Operations Training Course is for anyone who wants quality instruction from leading composting professionals and educators on the art and science of commercial scale compost production and marketing. \nCURRICULUM:\nDay 1: Composting process\, feedstocks and recipe development\, compost systems\nDay 2: Equipment\, safety\, site design\, environmental protection (odors and stormwater)\nDay 3: Regulations\, composting facility tours\nDay 4: Compost testing\, product quality\, compost uses and marketing\nDay 5: Facility management\, trouble-shooting and analyzing compost piles \n MEALS:\nIncluded in your registration are the following meals: \nDay 1: Catered Lunch\nDay 2: Catered Lunch\nDay 3: Lunch (Either Boxed Lunch or Sit-down Lunch at a restaurant along tour route when possible)\nDay 4: Catered Lunch\nDay 5: Catered Lunch \nCoffee and snacks will also be available daily.
