Education & Outreach Committee (EOC)

The EOC is a volunteer team that seeks to promote composting in all forms by organizing and participating in events, workshops, or conferences where feasible. EOC member volunteers are trained and mentored to be ambassadors of composting science and practices at these events and beyond.

EOC goals for 2023 include participating and collaborating with other organizations at festivals and cultural events to ensure compost is represented. The EOC is frequently asked to provide training around the state on topics integral to the creation and use of compost, and all of its benefits.

EOC serves as a resource for International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW), celebrated the second week of May. This year, the EOC participated in COMCON 2023 daily, one-hour Composting Conversations for ICAW.

The EOC is a frequent participant at Sustainable Spirits organized by the staff of the NC Composting Council. Since 2013, this monthly event unites a broad range of environmental enthusiasts for fun and networking in a relaxed, informal setting.  These free gatherings are held at breweries, coffee houses and restaurants in the Research Triangle and beyond and include activities like plant/seed swaps, Worm bin workshops, and updates from regional organizations.

If you want to spread the word about compost, this committee is for you!  EOC meetings are open and held the second Tuesday of the month at 1PM on Zoom.
