Join the North Carolina Composting Council for our first Sustainable Spirits event in Charlotte on October 16th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Innovation Barn. Sustainable Spirits are unstructured, professional networking events for everyone interested in sustainability issues such as composting, environmental policy, healthy soils, environmental justice, climate resilience, renewable energy, resource conservation, civic engagement, the circular economy and more!
Sustainable Spirits are free to attend, but please rsvp in advance to help us prepare an appropriate amount of food. Big thanks to Crown Town Compost for sponsoring and helping us host this event. Crown Town Compost is a member of the Innovation Barn — Charlotte’s Sustainability playground! Crown Town’s Co-Owner David Valder will provide a tour of the Innovation Barn from 5:30-6pm, and then guests will meet in the bar area for appetizers provided by NCCC, with generous support from our sponsors.
Thanks also to Sustainable Generation and Green My Team for sponsoring this event! Sustainable Generation is a recognized leader in composting innovation — delivering proven, scalable systems that reduce emissions, protect water, and produce high-quality compost. With a mission rooted in climate resilience, Sustainable Generation empowers municipalities, private operators, and global partners to manage organic waste smartly and cleanly.
Established in 2024, Crown Town Compost is a community compost who focuses on hauling food scraps with a small composting operation on their regenerative farm. They pick up food scraps from over 100 businesses, 800 homes and support a community food scrap drop off for over 400 residents in Charlotte, Davidson, and Belmont, North Carolina.
Green my Team is at the unique intersection of team building and sustainability. They deliver innovative, play-based programs that help organizations build a stronger team while inspiring a lasting culture of green behavior change. A portion of their revenue proudly supports Green Camps, a nonprofit dedicated to youth camp sustainability.
Thanks also to NCCC member HAPPY ROOTS for being the nonprofit partner for this event. HAPPY ROOTS is a 501c3 providing nature-based therapeutic and educational services to enhance wellness of the community and the environment.
